Home Energy Assessment

A Home Energy Assessment helps identify ways to improve your home’s energy efficiency and comfort. Our experts evaluate insulation, heating systems, and air leaks to recommend upgrades that can lower your energy bills and qualify you for available rebates.

Eligibility Criteria

  • General eligibility: Available for homes in Nova Scotia that are at least six months old and have not yet started renovations.
  • Moderate Income Rebate: You may be eligible for up to $10,000 in additional rebates and a free assessment if your home is primarily heated with non-electric sources (wood stoves are not considered a primary heating source) and your household meets our income threshold.
  • Oil to Heat Pump Affordability (OHPA) eligibility: You may be eligible for up to $15,000 (in rebates and a free assessment) to switch to a whole-home cold-climate heat pump system if your home is heated with oil and your household meets our income threshold.
  • Updated advanced payment option: Effective immediately, we are no longer offering advanced payments for the OHPA grant. These changes are part of our ongoing commitment to improve our program operations and to better support the growing number of program participants, and minimize risk to customers, contractors, and Efficiency Nova Scotia as we continue to administer the OHPA program. Projects that are completed and have all necessary close-out paperwork submitted by the contractor will receive payment within 10 business days.
